SNAP PROGRAMS UPDATE: spring/summer 2024


Dear Friends of SNAP,

Welcome back! SNAP is pleased to be back with a full set of programs for Spring/Summer 2024. We appreciate your support and hope that our programs are fulfilling and rewarding for both you and your child. We aim to offer a broad selection of programs but if one is missing, please send your ideas along!

SNAP YOGA Spring 2024

SNAP is pleased to offer a Yoga/Zumba program for students with special needs.  This program is offered to middle and high school students who receive special education services.  The program will take place on Fridays and will be taught by Serena Finocchio.  Serena focuses on breath body and mind connection and believes breathing can help us find a sense of peace and calmness inside of us. She wants you to enjoy your yoga practice with her and leave your yoga mat feeling relaxed. She is RYT-500 and holds several other yoga certifications. Her favorite place to be is the beach and she loves animals.

Dates:   May 3, 10, 31; & June 7, 14 

Time:  4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Location:  Hingham Rec Center Yoga Room, 220 Central Street, Hingham 

Cost is $12/session

The program will be limited to 8 number of participants so we ask everyone to sign up the program cost is $12 per session.

Students should wear comfortable clothing such as sweatpants and a t-shirt (no jeans).  Sneakers should be easy to remove.

This class is designed specifically to benefit students with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Attention Deficit Disorder, Learning Disabilities, and other developmental delays.   All levels of ability are welcome.  Each class follows the same outline with routines coordinated with the individual’s level of development.  Students will participate in five essential yoga practices:  music, breathing practices, cleansing practices, body postures and deep relaxation.  These practices are designed to strengthen and stretch the entire musculoskeletal system, balance the nervous system, increase breathing efficiency, improve body awareness, improve communication skills, increase each student’s ability to self-regulate, and of course provide a relaxing and engaging experience.

SNAP spring soccer

Snap is pleased to offer A soccer program for students with special needs. This program is offered to participants ages 4-22 who receive special education services. The program will take place on Sunday afternoons on the field by the far parking lot at Hingham High School.

Dates: april 21, 28; may 5, 12, 19; june 2, 9. Please note: no soccer on may 26th due to memorial day

Time: 1:00pm to 1:45pm

Location: hingham high school, 17 union street, hingham, ma

Cost: no fee

For those participants that require it, 1:1 support will be provided.

Program will be limited to 25 participants.

Program Description: This program will provide your child with the opportunity to have fun, socialize, and learn basic soccer skills. Come join the fun-filled atmosphere at Hingham High School far parking lot back field. Whether your child is 4 years of age or 22 years old, this soccer program will provide unlimited fun for everyone! We strongly recommend your child work on their dance moves after they score a goal!

What to bring: clothes suitable for movement as well as ATHLETIC shoes (sneakers or soccer cleats) shin pads are highly recommended. Soccer balls will be provided.

Snap 2024 sunset point summer program

SNAP and Sunset Point Camp are pleased to offer a Buddy Week Program for South Shore students with disabilities.

Dates: monday-friday, august 12-16, 2024

Time: monday-thursday 8:00am to 4:00pm, friday, august 16 8:00am to 12:00pm

Location: sunset point camp, 2 10th street, hull, ma 02045

Cost: $200

The program will be limited to 10 participants and 1:1 support will be provided to students who require it.

Program Description: Participants will partner with buddies who are attending Sunset Point’s wonderful program. Daily recreational activities include swimming, kayaking, paddle boards, arts & crafts and drama. Lunch is provided on site. Campers are supervised and coached by a Camp Director, Program Director, lifeguards and nurses.

What to bring/wear: Clothes suitable for movement, bathing suits and sneakers are suggested. As well as a water bottle.

Registration is open to students who receive special education services ages 6-22

SNAP 2024 summer program

SNAP is Pleased to offer their Summer Program held at South Shore Country Club!

During each day, our participants will rotate through several different activities, such as bowling, golf simulator, sensory activities and arts & crafts!

dates: monday, july 1 to friday, august 2, 2024 (note: no program on thursday july 4)

Time: 12:00 to 3:30pm

Where: south shore country club, hingham, ma

Cost: Week 1 (july 1-5) costs $160 for the week or $40 per day, week 2-5 is $200 for the week or $40 per day.

Program is limited to 25 participants!

On Friday, August 2, the program will meet from 9am to 12pm followed by an End of Season Celebration! ALL participants are welcomed to this celebration whether they enrolled for August 2 or not!

SNAP Field Hockey

SNAP is pleased to partner with HHS Field Hockey and offer a fall Field Hockey Program fro children ages 4-22 who receive special education services. The program will take place on Saturday afternoons on the Hingham High turf field.

Dates: May 11 & 25, June 1 & 8, 2024

time: 11:30pm to 12:15pm

Location: hingham high school, hingham, ma

Cost: free

The program will be limited to 20 participants and 1:1 support will be provided to students who require it.

Equipment will also be provided. Soft balls and modified equipment will be used.

Introductory program will provide your child with the opportunity to have fun, socialize and develop basic field hockey skills.

Clothes suitable for movement and sneakers.

Registration is open to the students ages 4-22 who receive special education services. Registration is required.
